Reinforced doors

Armored doors are mainly made of wood/agglomerate, both the leaf and the frame. And, although they have internal steel sheets, the rest is non-metallic. The armored doors are suitable for apartments inside the building where they are not exposed to the weather, practically they have to be closed spaces from sunlight or rain.

Reinforced doors: all you need to know

Nowadays, people increasingly value security in our homes. The reinforced doors are one of the options when thinking about protecting our home and everything in it.

Armored or reinforced ?

It is true that armored doors are more secure than armored doors, but the latter are still a good option in terms of security, since they have a lower price than the former. In addition, armored doors are easier to repair and less heavy. Currently the distinction between armored or armored is no longer used, as it created a lot of confusion. These 2 types of door are grouped under the classification “security” and it is specified what type of door it is.

Reinforced doors

In order to choose the door that best suits our needs, it is important to know how an armored door works and what are its main features:

Armored door is a wooden door to which 2 metal plates have usually been incorporated in both profiles (on both sides of the door). There are some that only have one plate and these doors are called single-panel armored doors.

This feature gives the armored door the following advantages:

  • The metallic plates help to isolate the sound, being a good option for example for blocks with many neighbors per floor or for houses located on busy streets.
  • Thanks to the metal plates, this door is more difficult to swing down. with a lever as they offer greater resistance.
  • In case of fire these doors are safer as they also act as a temperature insulator.

In addition, this type of door has a security lock that can withstand pressure of up to 500 kilograms, i.e. much stronger than usual. When the door is closed, the four ends of the door are locked with steel bars. The keys of the armored doors are very difficult to duplicate, so usually several copies are given at the time of purchasing the door.

Armored security doors, on the other hand, are made entirely of steel, although they have exterior wooden plates that serve mainly an aesthetic function.

The materials that make up this type of doors are of a higher quality, so they are much more resistant to possible attacks. When it comes to security, all armored entrances are much more difficult to break into than any armored entrance.

Both the frame and the door leaf are made of steel. The exterior is reinforced with wooden slats, purely aesthetic, which may give the appearance of an armored door. However, on the inside, it has an incomparable security system that will prevent the door from being levered and your house from being opened.

The lock of these doors has several independent locks that seriously complicate the work of a burglar. In order to open an armored door, a burglar must open each lock.

In addition, they have other security elements such as self-locking locks, which detect improper use of the lock by blocking it completely. The flared escutcheons, which are embedded in the door, prevent tampering with the deadbolt and their conical shape prevents the breakage and removal of the escutcheon, which is loaded from inside the house. These anti-theft systems will prevent, in any case, the opening of the door and the access to the house.

The cylinder is also an important part to guarantee the security of the door, which are made of high quality steel in the case of armored doors. Thanks to this element, it is possible to prevent the most professional techniques of thieves, such as bumping, picking, drilling or magic keys and 3D keys.

Along with the cylinder, keys are another key element to protect your home. The patented keys of the armored doors have special anti-copy protection, and cannot be copied except in a specifically authorized establishment, which will follow a strict security protocol.
